TRABALHO DE INTERPRETAÇÃO 2º TRIM. 2013.

TEXT 2º TRIM.

So who the hell is Bart Simpson?

It’s a dumb question, but then they’re sometimes the best ones to ask. Of course you already know that Bart is the unruly ten-year-old son of Homer and Marge, brother of Lisa and Maggie, and that the whole Simpson family are the creations of American cartoonist Matt Groaning. You probably know that Bart is a bad role model, a symbol of apathetic youth, a potential Democrat, the face on over 70 milion American T-shirts last year.
According to his creator, he’s part representation of his own childhood, part revenge on the authority figures of this youth, part satire on the TV myths of suburban normality and happy families. Most obviously, he’s the star of “ The Simpsons”, the first cartoon situation comedy to reach the top-ten American TV ratings since “The Flintstones” and “The Jettisons”. It’s a show which cleverly redefines family entertainment.
And you may have seen Bart described as the American anti-hero, especially designed for a whole generations nostalgic fot its lost youth. Yes, but that may not be the full story.
